My Education Experience My Elementary Education journey includes courses at both St. Cloud State University and Bemidji State University. These courses taught me the importance of providing support to the school, family, and community. My pre-teaching experience included social studies, science, math, physical education, language arts, special education, and creative expression arts. I spent approximately 200 hours in classrooms, supporting a broad range of ages from infants, toddlers, kindergarten through fifth grade.
My experiences working with children I have always enjoyed working with children, from babysitting to high school where child care courses were in the midst of my class list. I owned and operated an in home Daycare for eight years, before I began my current career within the Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose (BHM) schools, as an educational support professional (ESP or paraprofessional). My career as an ESP started mostly working with kindergarten at the Multi-age school Discovery within the BHM School District. My career included working in kindergarten through fifth-grade classroom, technology, recess and lunch supervision. Classroom assignments include planning intervention strategies for exceptional students of all levels. Over the years I have learned to administer grade level assessments and use the data to plan interventions. Other duties included playground supervision and lunchroom management. Working in a school for 19 years has taught me how important it is to collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and students while being flexible and organized.
Immediate and long-range goals My immediate goal after graduation is to secure an elementary teaching position somewhere in the United States. I want to teach and begin my journey of making a difference in the world. I will help students explore, learn, and excel by providing a secure, caring and stimulating environment. Long-range goals include earning my Master’s degree and any other endorsements that are fitting to my career. Another long-term goal is to educate young families through infant and family classes.
Areas of strength as a teacher I serve as a positive role model for students and demonstrate my passion for learning building lifelong learners in the process. I have used a variety of assessments and planned intervention strategies for exceptional learners. I feel my teaching style is calm and confident. I have excellent organization skills and come prepared to teach each day. to plan the day or solve problems that may arise. I feel I am flexible and confident to solve challenges that may arise. I feel I feel I am a team player and collaborate with others. I feel I have a good start on classroom management plan for my classroom and will continue to build my management skills to fit the unique learners in my classroom.
I want to be the best I can be and look forward to learning from the students, families, and colleagues. I look forward to incorporating fun and exciting ideas to the curriculum through the project, hands-on experiments, active play, center experiences, community projects, themes and group work. I want all student to feel comfortable and excited about learning.
